Ambrosia is a well balanced 50/50 hybrid strain that claims legendary genetic lineage from its parent strains God Bud and Burmese. This strain has a solid reputation among patients in the medical cannabis community for providing relief from mood disorders, chronic pain and stress.
Originally bred by Jordan of the Islands, a Vancouver Island based Cannabis cultivator, Ambrosia’s name is literally derived from the comparison that when you are consuming this strain it is like tasting the food of the gods.
It is a cross between God Bud and Burmese.
The THC percentage of Ambrosia usually ranges between 13-16%, while the CBD content is rather minimal, sitting at less than a full 1%.
Medical patients lavish praise on this strain, for its sweet flavour and skunky smell that delivers a balanced, clear headed and focused high. Ambrosia is most commonly used to help treat mood disorders like depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD and chronic stress. It has also been reported to provide relief from inflammation, migraines and headaches. Ambrosia has also been used by some patients to help stimulate their appetite.
Although Ambrosia is a 50/50 Hybrid, the effects are much more sativa oriented, starting as clear headed and motivated energy with an underlying burst of creativity that works well with feelings of euphoria and relaxation. As the overall effects subside, there is an undercurrent of a mellow body stone that slowly reveals itself.
This strain is best suited for daytime use and delivers a relaxing body stone that does not include the common “couch-lock” effect associated with its Indica dominant parent strain God Bud. The noticeable burst of energy felt throughout the experience can be attributed to the classic sativa effects of Ambrosia’s other parent strain, Burmese.
Ambrosia is suited for users of all levels of medical cannabis experience. With a medium overall THC content and an effect profile that is suitable for a well balanced experience, beginners will find this strain powerful but functional, while the more experienced will find Ambrosia enjoyable as well.
Ambrosia is also a popular recreational cannabis strain that pairs well with both creative indoor activities and adventures in nature like long walks or hikes.
The aroma profile of Ambrosia manifests with a powerful woodsy pine and citrus pineapple scent, that also presents an undercurrent of jasmine and lavender in support, keeping the other flavours separate and distinct.
The highlights of the flavour profile of Ambrosia is the mild piney and earthy taste of the exhale that is combined with an encompassing bouquet of floral notes. These complex aromas and flavours result in an inhale that is both expansive and smooth at the same time.
Flowering time for Ambrosia is 7-8 weeks and it can be grown indoors, as well as cultivated outdoors in a suitable environment. This strain is best suited for climates with long summer days and has an outdoor harvest date of mid-September. Ambrosia is a perfect combination of genetics from both parent strains so it usually grows to a healthy medium height somewhere between 5 to 8 feet tall. Ambrosia is fast to grow and flower, so it is best to control the vegetative growth of this strain, reducing the plants desire to branch out excessively. When organizing the grow space it is important to plan to allow for enough space between plants.
