Master Kush is a 90/10 Indica Dominant Hybrid strain that was bred by the Dutch White Label Seed Company. Two conflicting stories arise when discussing the genetic lineage of this strain; it is either a cross between Hindu Kush and Skunk #1, or a cross between two landrace strains that came from the Hindu Kush region. Master Kush is an extremely popular strain that has received legendary status in the recreational market and has gained popularity in the medical cannabis community for helping alleviate the symptoms of multiple ailments.
The Dutch White Label Seed Company created Master Kush but two different origin stories exist. There is no doubt that Master Kush has at least one parent that can claim a connection to the Hindu Kush region.
The parent strains are either Hindu Kush and Skunk #1 or two landraces from the Hindu Kush region
Master Kush originated in urban Amsterdam and was first known as “High Rise” because it was cultivated in a tall residential building. Master Kush quickly became a staple of the cannabis coffee house scene because of its powerful effects and interesting genetics.
While the majority of cannabis strains are diploid and have two sets of chromosomes, one from each parent, Master Kush is a tetraploid strain which means that it has 4 sets of chromosomes, two from each parent.
The THC content of Master Kush is quite high, 16% - 24% is the average range. The CBD content can be anywhere from 0.01% - 1%.

Master Kush provides the classic Indica effects of a sedated full body relaxation but is unique because it also produces a light cerebral energy that leaves the mind clear and stimulated, unlike most other heavy Indica strains which cloud the mind and leave thoughts hazy.
Master Kush offers an experience with a sharpened state of mental awareness that comes with all the classic Indica effects of total relaxation, sedation and euphoria.
Common side effects of Master Kush include dry eyes and dry mouth. Feelings of anxiety, paranoia, dizziness and headaches are typically symptoms of overconsumption. Master Kush has a fragrant aroma profile of sweet citrus and pungent moist earth. The flavour profile of Master Kush is very similar to its aroma; it is dominated by a pungent earthy flavor, with undertones of woodiness, and a distinctive sweet citrus taste. As a strain derived from the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan and Pakistan, there is a slight scent and flavour that is reminiscent of the spicy hashish that this mountainous cannabis paradise is renowned for.
Master Kush is considered an easy cannabis strain to grow and has a very high resistance to common pests and diseases like mold and mildew. When grown indoors, Master Kush is ready for harvest after 8-10 weeks of flowering and will yield around 14 oz/㎡. Outdoor harvests are ready by late September and early October, and can produce over 18 oz/plant. Master Kush prefers a hot and sunny climate.
