Ingredients

cannabis salve For a large batch (this recipe):

You can scale this recipe up or down as much as you want but we suggest doing small fresh batches. This recipe will make 5 to 6 small (125 ml) mason jars.

For a small batch use:

  • 1 gram of RSO (Rick Simpson Oil)
  • 70 grams of Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
  • 5 drops (depending on your preference) of essential oil of your choice.

This small batch recipe will make around one small (125 ml) mason jar of cannabis salve.

The cannabis salve will keep for a long time especially if you store it in a cool dark place.

The fridge works well for storing cannabis salve for a few days or a few months. When you are ready to use the salve, take it out of the fridge and let it get to room temperature before application.

Directions

  1. Fill a large pot with hot water until the water is two or three inches from the top. Place the pot on the stove top burner at a low/medium heat and allow the water to heat up but do not let the water boil.

  2. Put the large stainless steel mixing bowl on top of the water (it should be floating) in the large pot once the water has heated up.

  3. Place 350 grams of coconut oil in the large mixing bowl and let it heat up. Do not let the coconut oil boil or get too hot. This should take 5 to 10 minutes.

  4. Once the coconut oil is heated and becomes translucent (clear) add 5 grams of RSO and use your whisk to gently mix the cannabis concentrate into the liquified coconut oil. The RSO should quickly emulsify and become a uniform amber/green colour; colour will differ depending on the strain and concentrate used. Once the RSO has fully emulsified into coconut oil continue to gently whisk the mixture for 5 more minutes. Turn the heat down to level 2 while whisking.

  5. Optional Step: Add 10 to 20 drops of your preferred essential oil.

  6. Now turn off the burner, remove the large mixing bowl from the hot water and pour the liquid into your stand mixer bowl. Use your spatula to waste less of this precious liquid while transferring it to the stand mixer bowl. Place the stand mixer bowl in the fridge and allow the mixture to cool down (this usually takes between 1 to 3 hours). The mixture will turn from a translucent amber green when liquid into a buttery white green or amber color once it has cooled.

  7. Now that the mixture is cooled, remove the bowl from the fridge and attach it to the stand mixer.

  8. Now turn on the stand mixer and mix at level 6 to 8 for 7 to 10 minutes. Stop frequently and use your spatula to incorporate any of the mixture that has been caught on the sides to the middle of the mixing bowl. This will ensure the entire batch is being mixed consistently. This process will make the salve more buttery and fluffy.

If you do not have access to a stand mixer then you can vigorously stir the mixture with a whisk. While this will still make an effective salve, it will not come out as fluffy and will be more difficult to apply.

  9. Once the mixture has been mixed with the stand mixer it will become a fluffy and buttery substance that is perfect for spreading on your skin.

  10. Now jar the salve using your spatula and you are done. We suggest using 125 ml mason jars

  11. Congratulations you have just made a Cannabis Salve!

  12. Enjoy and remember to share with your adult family members and your adult friends!
